Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2 or HBOT) is a unique method of delivering high doses of oxygen in order to help the body heal.

"Hyperbaric" means barometric pressure greater than sea level air. It is accomplished by breathing 100% oxygen while inside a hyperbaric chamber. The chamber is pressurized to two or three times the atmospheric pressure. This results in increased tissue oxygen concentration of 15 to 20 times normal.

Treatment usually lasts about 90 minutes. Patient relaxes during this time or has an option to watch television and can communicate via a two-way intercom system.
